I reviewed this site after we had problems with their charging - (not what was advertised was taken from my bank and the total taken was twice the advertised rate) there was no other option than to use the hotel as there was no way of cancelling or changing without have to pay the full amount). Again hidden restrictions. So now we are here- not at the hotel I was trying to book and even that fact was hidden in the booking. In other words - DO NOT USE THIS WEBSITE- the room that was booked is inferior.
The website grossly misrepresents the charges - I was quoted R1900 as a room rate in the hotel listing page, however when the payment was confirmed it billed R3000 as a non-refundable charge and in US$ and not in R, so I’m paying a currency exchange fee too without having been given a choice to do so. It added the difference as a ‘booking fee’ without any obvious notice this was to be levied before confirming the payment. Only when checking back on the transaction was it apparent they had levied this additional outrageously high charge. I feel misled and ripped off, will never use this website again.
Absolute scam - they are mimicking an authentic hotel web site. I booked on March 24 with free cancellation until April 27. When realizing that they only add fees I made a cancellation within 30 minutes. Their automated response: You have paid the full amount and there is no refund. I have informed my CC on this fraudulent behavior providing screenshots of every step. Such a shame. I am confident to recover the 380€ (415 USD). But it made me really upset and had a bad sleep.
'Guest Reservation' aka 'guestreservations' Scam site? no but its cheaper to book direct with hotel. Which I did . Take it slowly and compare price via a cal to the hotel 'front desk'. Beware of 'redirection' codes/cookies in the search results.At every stage i took a screenshot of each page as record , as i went through the cancellation process. Got cancellation confirmation mails.Refund to card after three days. So, three stars for the quick refund.
I recently made a hotel room booking with this company, Guest Reservations. It seemed like a good rate, and I did not notice the additional 85% extra on the bill for booking fees. I therefore declined this payment on my banking app, but somehow this company was still able to take this money from my account, which is not legal under EU law. I recommend NOT to book with this company, you will be charged more than you would pay of you book directly with hotels. AVOID!!Edit: After about 2 weeks of sending emails to multiple different companies and people (and leaving this review), I finally got a cancellation and refund for this payment. Thank you to Guest Reservations customer service, who (once I found the right email address) responded promptly. However, my comments still stand about the deceptive marketing policy which this company relies on.
I went onto Google to try and make a booking at the Victoria and Alfred Hotel in Cape Town. One of the first sites to appear was guestreservations.com. I looked at the options and compared the prices and their prices were quite good, so I made a booking. The price that I chose was R6281.00 and this was about R500 cheaper than any other website. Then I was directed to the next page where you have to fill in all your personal details and your bank details. And then you pay. This is where I got an smssaying that I just paid R9 482.12 This was a shock to me and when I had a better look at the page it had a summary in small print on the right where taxes and fees were added. This made my booking over R2000 more than any other website. Maybe I should have concentrated better to see this summary first, but you don't expect the price that you chose to change when you pay. I travel a lot and this has never happened to me before. It is not right to not included the full price from the beginning, not at the end. False advertising. I tried to click on links like "Contact us" or "Manage your Booking", but all links appear as "403 Forbidden". This is where red flags come up immediately. Not happy!!! I want to cancel. 28 February 2025I sent an email to guestreservations.com and they did reply and told me that they would refund me a part of the booked amount. I appreciate this and I will add one more star to my review. I will have to wait and see how ling it takes to get the refund, but at least they came back to me within a day.
The site made it appear that you are booking directly on the hotel's website. LOTS of hidden charges which were not disclosed prior to booking. BOT answering machines when customer service is being called. Emailed for refund and didn't receive any response
Update: They have canceled my booking without refunding when I specificaly stated I needed a refund. Still waiting on a response regarding when my refund arrives.Got an unauthorized charge from this service and there is no possible way of reaching anyone to get my money refunded for a booking I never intended to authorize. Incredibly frustrating seeing as the charge was incredibly high and the customer service seems to move at a snails pace. Hoping they answer quickly to resolve it and maybe this service can be salvaged.
