Incredibly impressed with Jesse who assisted me fast and accurately with our new contract . Brittany Christians was equally patient and professional helping our charity pick the best contract for our needs and security at the Homefront Hugs Foundation! We work with wounded and deployed troops and their brave families - as well as over 50,000 volunteers helping their communities in thanks for their freedoms from all walks of life . Security is critical for everyone’s safety and especially when we are receiving donations. Would love to have SITELOCK become one of our main sponsors too... consider becoming an official sponsor of Homefront Hugs - where we make a real difference across differences and divisions.Encourage everyone to have Premier security like SiteLock in their website . Give yourself peace of mind .And if anyone wishes to volunteer with us - or help develop an app for our wounded vets and deployed vets who need an easy way to sign up for support - please email us or call !
I believe that SiteLock is ransom ware. After only 5 months of having my website it was infected with malware. I had sitelock essentials that scanned and found the Malware. Then I was told the only way to protect my website was to upgrade to the premium service, $300 a year. I believe they infected my site then demanded payment to release it. Very suspicious. Cannot be trusted. I gave up and deleted my site.
I was called up by "hostgator security" stating that my site had Malware. I asked them to revert it to a backup, and they said it would be $50 and no guarantee of fixing the malware, but I should use "Site Lock" instead. With 2 domains it would be $500, they would remediate the malware immediately, and then provide 12 months of monitoring service. Normally, I'd just handle malware myself, but I've got alot going on, so I decide to let these professionals handle it. I ask them what happens if my site goes down during this process, and they assure me that would not happen because the only files that would be removed is malware. I ask, ok, what if some kind of accident happens and it goes down anyway? "They will help you, they are on top of it." Okay great. I pay the money, for the next 24 hours I get a dozen emails about site scans happening. I check the next day, and both of my websites will not load. I call the Site Lock number and they tell me there are 19 directories for which I have not paid for Sitelock, and he thinks the malware is hiding there, and I need to pay for service for each of those directories. 19 + 2 X $250 is $5,250, which is as silly, ridiculous, halfbaked and outrageous a number as is the premise that more site scans will fix the problem. I come to find out Hostgator and sitelock are two separate companies. This is not a professional team that works together to remediate malware, in my opinion. I call back the hostgator rep who sold me the services, which atleast I'm grateful he was easy to get a hold of, and I'm told he will open a ticket which may take up to 24 hours to get a response to. These are active business websites with advertising running to them. I should not have trusted Hostgator, and I should not have trusted Sitelock. After this is all over, I'm going to look at hosts who don't charge to revert backups.
FALSE SENSE OF SECURITYThe worse part of this experience is that their Dashboard shows that they are connecting, and it is working. All is “GOOD;” however, when I go to configurations, there is an error that the site cannot connect “Unable to establish FTP connection. Please double-check your credentials.” I contacted my ISP, and their logs show that the site is not being attempted to connect from any of the IP addresses supplied by SiteLock. They clearly have an issue. I am canceling 4 of my accounts, and I am canceling my clients that I have put on Sitelock as well. Just try to get a hold of your sales rep as well. They cannot seem to get it to work all the time. My site goes down more than it is up with a Sitelock error. I am not sure because the SSL expires (they are responsible for it) or because there is more than 1 IP listed. I had to do some troubleshooting myself and deleted one of the IPs, and the site came up. When talking to support, they always pass the buck to the Hosting company. I am not sure the money is worth the service.I called several times and have a Dialpad dialog of the conversations. Sitelock has no record of our conversation. Today I tried to contact my Account rep or the person that created my account, and they sent me to support. I have no control over where Sitelock is pointing my DNS, and they have the incorrect information listed. The site has been working for at least a year on the current server; however for the last 2 months the site is not always up with a Sitelock error. I contacted Support again and spoke to a lady at about 12:30 PM 6/2/2022 PST and she gave me nothing but attitude. Sitelock support is lacking I would suggest finding another web security company. A product is only as good as the support when something goes wrong.
The consultation I received from SiteLock's consultant, Andrea, was very professional, pleasant and informative. I felt comfortable to share and discuss my website concerns and received very helpful advice. Furthermore, Andrea's description of what SiteLock's service entails and how its service protects my website from hackers and malware only confirmed that I made the right decision to subscribe to this service.
