Update after Domestika answer: Exactly, I didn't remove the trial because I didn't noticed YOU added without my consent! I was just purchasing one lesson. I didn't want to purchase any plan. This is a very bad practice and this is scam. I never asked for this and you put it in my cart while I was purchasing something else. This is scam. I will inform all the community of designer and illustrator. I have written to you, and guess what, you don't answer... If you continue doing this practice you will loose all your potential clients.
I took an introductory course and then was unexpectedly hit with a fee of GBP282.02 for a subscription I was not aware I had signed up to, nor had I agreed to. DOMESTIKA refuse refunds and support is not available. It appears to be a very aggressive model at best, or a deliberate scam at worst. Avoid
I was in love with the 3 courses I purchased a few years ago which i was only paying just for them. But then next year out of nowhere - they took a subscription fee out of my bank account I used for purchasing the courses. This is when they decided to switch to a subscription based service but did not inform me of this. Unfortunately at that time I wasn’t able to get a refund or fix the issue because the forms required to fill out didn’t include my country only Dominica/mexico/brazil so the forms required wouldn’t end up being in English or matching my country. Then this year they just took like 300$ again for a subscription I still didn’t ask for. I tried contacting them within 10 minutes of this money being taken to have this dealt with- but again there was no way to get a refund or quit the subscription I didn’t apply for. Then their website says they don’t do refunds for DomestikaPlus subscriptions- which is what they signed me up for without my consent. So you get trapped in their own arbitrary refund policy after they have essentially pickpocketed your bank info that you have trusted them with. Then my bank listed that payment as fraud, so then Domestika used other cards on my PayPal account and ended up using my spouses visa after I blocked it from using my other cards. Which ended up labelling my PayPal account as fraudulently using my spouses visa. After PayPal removed the payment and listed Domestika as using my account fraudulently, Domestika dismantled my entire account and I can’t get into my old account to even use the courses I originally paid for which wasn’t .99$ I paid 30+$ for my courses. So they have essentially sold me a course and then held it ransom for more yearly escalating subscription money.
Scammy company - cheap course turned out to be a "free trial" and subscription emails went straight to spam, so didn't realise this was a subscription until ?200 left my account. Real shame as the platform itself is good and would have continued to use. They are refusing to reimburse and I'm recieving automated emails.
So here I go again Domestika. You replied to me, I get it but here is where you went wrong and that you did not follow California Consumer laws: You never sent me any notifications. According to your reply, "Notifications are sent to the email associated with your Domestika account during your trial period" Well, you did not send me any notification reminder that I will be charged. By California Law, 2. Legal Requirements and Reminder Notices:• Federal and state laws often govern automatic renewals.• Many states require companies to send reminder notices before an automatic renewal, especially for subscriptions that are a year or longer or those that start with a free trial.• Specific laws outline the timeframe for these reminder notices.• When a free trial converts to a paid subscription, companies must clearly inform you about the terms, including how to cancel before being charged. Some states also require a reminder before the free trial ends. You gave me the Renewal information on my invoice on the day I paid .99 cents for the course. You never sent me any reminder via my email. So it is illegal what you did. "Yes, California law requires companies to send a reminder notification before a free trial or discounted subscription period ends if it lasts longer than 31 days. This notification must be sent between 3 and 21 days before the end of the free trial or discounted period."Here's a more detailed explanation:"California's Automatic Renewal Law (ARL).mandates that businesses inform consumers about automatic renewals and continuous service offers.Free Trial Reminders:For subscriptions with a free trial or discounted period of more than 31 days, businesses must send a reminder notice between 3 and 21 days before the trial or discount period ends.Key Information in the Reminder:This reminder should clearly and conspicuously state that the subscription will automatically renew unless the consumer cancels. It should also include the length of the renewal period, any additional terms, and at least one method for the consumer to cancel before renewal. Why it's important:This requirement aims to prevent consumers from being surprised by unexpected charges after a free trial or discounted period."And another thing you are doing wrong is that you once you charge us for the Domestika Plus yearly subscription, you do not allow us to remove our credit card from you website which is also against California Consumer Law. "To remove a credit card from Domestika, navigate to the payment methods section within your account settings, and then select the option to remove the card. If you have a Domestika Plus subscription, you can change your payment method but not delete it, according to Domestika's support site." This is what Domestika is doing and is not allowed and yet, there you go, not letting us remove our credit card so you can repeat this scam again next year. Shame on you!
How could a trusted platform sink into the level of common scammers? - no idea. But what is even more funny - nowhere in their offer have they communicated the price of this fantastic unlimited Premium service - that I will never use after all this.So first they tried to remove 176 USD, than they removed "just" the half of it.. and than monthly..Could they at least decide how much money they want to steal ???This company is the most disappointing in this year. ??????????They are very kind to inform all the scammed customers it doesnt change the fact that I wasnt informed about the price of their fantastic Domestika Plus. No Refund Policy, bullsit generic answers, and I could actually vomit from this level of business pushing down a service on my throat I NEVER ASKED FOR. And they still force in their comment. HOW DARE YOU ???. There was no reminder or information about ending the trial (apart from miniature size footer text scrolling down at the bottom of the page). This is the phony offer cathegory on the EU's complaint form if any of you would like to make a complaint..I wont ever open the site again, and this is a tragedy for all the artists employed by Domestika - they never asked to scam in their names..CHANGE your goddamn policy and refund all the money you stole. That simple.
