If I could leave negative stars I would.Appalling service. Expect you to give them more, sales reps lie and fail to provide all the information. All you hear is the arrogance of sales reps staying they will make it happen to their manager who hides in their office.Promise a good deal but only if you put more in, nothing from the other side. Under value trade in prices and argue that they basing it on the future value.Avoid at all costs.
My car was booked in for service costing ?250, at time of booking this was booked with a courtesy car.On arrival there was no mention of the courtesy car on the booking, they sourced a car which was in a horrendous condition cleanliness wise, there were dirty tissues in the door pockets, all sorts of stains and marks on the seats, dog hair over the rear seats and in the boot.On arrival back at collecting my car from a distance it looked as though it had been valeted as you would expect as part of a service, however this wasn’t the case clearly a pressure washer has been thrown over to get rid of the clearly obvious loose dirt but the whole car was still covered in traffic film dirt, the inside of the car hadn’t even been touched! Disgusting lack of service!!!This was the Nissan Branch in Colchester
Please look at all of these reviews.Unfortunately this car dealership is terrible. I was told for the first 2 years I will have a free service. There was no flexibility for the dates/ area. It had to be a day when I was working, and it had to be an hour from where I lived. They then charged me ?1033.45 for 2 front wheels and front/ back break pad after having the car for only 2 years which is unaffordable and heartbreaking.Honestly this car has been a headache since I’ve bought it because of Glyn Hopkins. I suggest you never buy a car here.
I purchased my first used Nissan car from this dealership, had some problems when I got it but they were eventually sorted out without any problems. They have serviced the car under their Ready to Go service plan I pay into. My experience has always been good when I had cause to go there for any help or advice, service etc. My car turned 5 years old in January so went in to see about getting the cam belt changed which is not covered under the service plan. I asked for a price to get the belt & the water pump replaced & wow was I shocked, ?1386, a rubber belt & pump costing to me retail ?290 leaving over ?1000 for labour. I said no thanks & walked out. After getting home they called me, the guy said they could do the belt only for ?700 which I declined saying I would find it cheaper elsewhere. I called two other Nissan main dealers to get their price, one was ?550 for the belt & pump all inclusive & the other was ?692 all inclusive or for the belt only ?349. I opted for the belt only after the dealer said they only usually change the belt & always inspect the pump & would advise if any problems. Shame on Glyn Hopkin on their in my opinion outrageous prices. Nothing wrong with the staff there as always helpful & kind. When my car needs any more work (which I have to pay for) it will not be done there & when I eventually change the car for a newer one I will now go to another dealer. How many people just accept those sorts of prices & pay up. If you find you need something done on your Nissan I would for sure have a call around to check prices & not accept these sorts of costs.
Took my lovely new motor in for her first MOT yesterday and to my surprise it failed on the omissions. I had a word with the mechanic and he said there is absolutely no reason for this car to have failed except for a manufacturers fault. It was a little bit annoying but happily enough my mate Alex from MG didn’t just sell me a car (for over 11 grand) he sold me peace of mind with an amazing 7 year warranty .. So I gave Glynn Hopkin a ring first thing this morning expecting them to be mortified that they’ve sold me a dicky motor and do everything they could to rectify the situation. Oh but it didn’t quite work out like that! As soon as they answered the phone they did everything they could to squirm out of it and made the most outlandish excuses!1) The manufacturer warranty only lasts 3 years( I asked if that was from the date of registration which is the 29th of September, but apparently it still isn’t covered under a different warranty?)2) You shouldn’t have taken it to Kwik fit, they don’t do MOTs properly (I think they probably do, it’s there main business model)3) Your warranty is only 3 years, hardly anything is covered after that.4) We don’t know how the car has been treated (You do, as I’ve had it diligently serviced every year in line with my service plan to ensure that my 7 year warranty is not invalidated, in fact you serviced it on Friday and sent me a little video explaining what fantastic condition it was in)I perceived and asked them to book it in and they said that they can’t look at it until the 10th of September. I politely explained that would be outside of the 10 days for a retest which means I would have to pay for another MOT after they have fixed the issue that they sold me the car with and I would have to take an unpaid day off work and requested at the very least they could fix the faulty car they sold me and run it through the MOT as a courtesy. I could almost hear the lovely receptionist shrugging her indifference and she told me again it was my fault for taking it to Kwik fit. There wasn’t a cup of tea or free packet of biscuits in sight this time and my hero Alex with his mirror shined shoes and winning smile was nowhere to be seen with my 7 year warranty he sold me. The reason I took my car to Kwik fit and not MG was because I couldn’t possibly imagine that a 3 year old car, with 17k on the clock which has been serviced every year would have a single problem, also MG is about 10 miles from my house, they charge a lot more than anyone else and every time I have the car serviced they try to rip me off for ?400 worth of tyres I don’t need which are half the price in the tyre shop up the road. Unwilling to accept that after all MGs lovely sales patter and videos they sent me and lovely emails asking if they could provide any further assistance, would you like a valuation on you car sir? Would you like an upgrade? You’ve been randomly selected for a great deal on a brand new car .. I asked how the repair was going to go. I was informed that I had to drop the car off at 8am and they would call me with an update, I could take advantage of a courtesy car for ?35 a day if I so wished!Well, I did some mental maths and we are now at about ?280 this is all going to cost me because they sold me a faulty vehicle? I asked if there was anything at all they could do to help me out? Well, I was sure I could still hear the indifferent shrugging, but now I was also treated to some huffing and puffing and was spoken to like a naughty child! I agreed to the date of repair and rushed home to check my warranty, which is more like a list of broken promises. To be honest, it’s just a list of things that aren’t covered!Oh Glynn Hopkin MG Chelmsford, I’m not angry, I’m disappointed 😔
I feel badly mugged off and regret not refusing to take the car away ..Car was filthy 74 model MG HS trophy ..plastic seat coverings were ripped and torn to shreds body work covered in bird shit food crumbs on the floor and seats of the car and a dirty stain on the light grey plastic that I cant remove looks like grease ..And recently I've noticed a scratch on the front passenger leather seat ..Although the car was valeted I still found crumbs in the boot area when I got it home ..I was treated very nicely by the sales team but sorry the car came sub standard for a 74 plate ..I wish I had gone elsewhere . .
Not impressed , how unprofessional..Drive out of town.....fuel...and feel the dealership dont care..Spoke to a woman and all she said il let the manager know..No manager/ manageress....came out @!Car was a 72 Nissan.. dirty interior, dog hairs ..seats dirty....Windows kids hand marks!Tyre pressure wasnt right, brake pads felt scratchy .( Not safe for a test drive - shame on you !!)Disgusting
I’ve had two Nissan Qashqai’s from Glynn Hopkins Milton Keynes Branch & would happily have another Nissan but will never be using this branch again. I purchased the tyre & alloy wheel insurance & the policy was never activated even 18 months after purchase! I’ve made a complaint and the company has said they will refund the ?399 but still to no avail! Constantly being fobbed of so now having to go through small claims court to get the money back. As far as I’m concerned they have now fraudulently taken ?399 from me!
Bought a used qashqai last year, M.O.T done in April 2024 and serviced. Two months later the break disks and pads had worn (amongst other issues). Upon checking with DVLA, this was a cautionary in October the year before....clearly not even checked 6 months later!! Trying to get it sorted was a nightmare.More recently, the lock on the rear door failed, two weeks later, someone forgot to order a new one. We'd taken out a service agreement at time of purchase but sorely wished we hadn't. Buy from another dealership if you can, not sure they know how or do any work at the colchester branch.
