Some courses are good, however it's dangerous to put your payment details in Domestika. They charged me for 1 year subscription a few days after I cancelled my subscription. They deny the refund and reply with generic emails even though I provided proof of the cancellation.
Avoid at all costs unless you are totally convinced of the course you sign up for and are happy to pay hundreds of bucks for the full year subscription.I tried to appeal after missing the cancellation date.Domestika will ignore any requests for 14 day cooling off period or anything like that.They like to get the bucks and sign you off, so to speak.:-{
I have never had any problems with Domestika in the past, however, they now have a brutal promotion going on, get a discount for certain classes, agree to free trial for yearly membership. Other companies Ive dealt with have sent out "You wil be billed (this amount) on (this date)" never got one from Domestika, got home from the hospital after a surgery to find I was overdrawn on checking and rent due. The amount $329 was astronomical for me. Buyer Beware...they are a bunch of crooks!
Deceptive and unscrupulous. If you buy one of the 0.99 courses it automatically comes with a subscription where if forget to cancel before the trial period even if you didn't use the course you'll be charged hundreds of dollars and cannot get your money back. They give you an option to "ask for a refund" but then get an automated answer that points to their terms where you don't get a refund. In my case we paid for a subscription for a course we never used that cost over 300 USD.
Course "2D and 3D Animation with After Effects and Cinema 4D". it's my first experience with Domestica. And even the course was just with English subtitles, the material was really great from the top level pro. Great and cleverly prepared information for any level.
Buying courses = unwanted subscriptionI bought some courses on Domestika and unknowingly activated a 30-day free trial of their Domestika Plus subscription.A month later, I was charged $285 USD without any warning or reminder.Domestika refuses to refund me despite multiple requests, and PayPal has not helped so far.I never used the service after the charge. This feels like a misleading and aggressive practice.I’m sharing my experience so others don’t fall into the same trap.
I am absolutely appalled by my experience with Domestika.I purchased what I believed to be a single course for 99p — nowhere in the checkout process was it clearly stated that I was enrolling in a free trial that would silently convert into a ?277.99 annual subscription. The only “notice” they sent about the renewal landed in my junk folder, and even that buried the price and details in fine print.When I contacted Domestika support to explain that I had not agreed to such a charge — and that I never would have knowingly subscribed to something so expensive — I was met with cold, copy-pasted replies that completely ignored the situation. No empathy, no effort to resolve, just a reference to their small-print terms and conditions.I explained that I support a young family and this kind of unexpected charge causes real financial stress. Still, they flat-out refused a refund.This isn’t a simple oversight — it feels like a calculated dark pattern, designed to trap users into huge payments through lack of transparency. I've now escalated the issue to my credit card provider and will be pursuing a formal dispute.Domestika might offer decent content, but their business practices are deceptive and predatory. I strongly advise anyone considering them to stay away — or at the very least, read every hidden clause and beware of the fine print.
