Review Time
British Gas supplied gas and electricity to a flat I rented. At the end of the tenancy I gave the meter readings and settled the account. Over 2 years later I started to receive demand emails and text messages stating I owed ?96. When I finally got through i was told that British Gas swapped their billing methods during my time in the flat and there was money owing. They were unable to explain why it had taken 2 years and confirmed that my credit rating would be affected if I didn't pay. I stated I wanted to make a complaint and was told that they would take details and take ?40 off if I considered the matter dealt with. I was then put through to the complaints department in the UK, who again offered ?40 off if I considered it closed. When I said I would make a further complaint I was told there wouldn't be any point as it wouldn't be looked at.Criminal behaviour in my opinion and I wouldn't touch British Gas again with a barge pole. Very very disappointed... and still angry!
The engineer Mike telephoned to advise he would be arriving shortly . He was courteous ( put on shoe covers) and very knowledgeable . He fixed the problem extremely quickly and explained the reason why the fault had occurred. Excellent experience.
