On 11 May, I attempted to make a booking at the Connemara Lake Hotel in Ireland and inadvertently did so via the website. I booked a two night stay on 15 and 16 August next. In booking, the website never confirmed my booking and I was sent no confirmation email either. In addition my bank placed a security hold on my card after I was charged €582, well in excess of the amount shown on the website and the amount charged by the hotel directly (€400). I contacted the hotel the next day to find no booking directly in my name. Eventually a booking was discovered via booking.com. I asked the hotel to cancel this booking and they obliged on 13 May.I have queried a refund and had no success to date.
