Linley and Simpson Leeds is the most unprofessional letting agency I have rented from. Not only did they let me a flat that was not liveable but also they left me to fix the repairs myself. When I requested to be reimbursed they told me that the landlord would not be willing to pay me for the cost of reimbursement because the value of the repairs is over a ?60. Laughable right? Whata ? ?s more laughable is that the agent did not contact the maintenance person to fix the repairs in the flat until I was hiring someone privately. After waiting for so long. Therefore, I was expected to reside in a flat that was against environmental health policy and pay them full montha ? ?s rent. However, when I deducted that money from my rent, they threatened to take me to Court for rent arrears. Furthermore, their complaints procedure is an utter joke. You can email all the evidence you have but no one acknowledges your email. A generic email will be sent though stating, we are conducting an investigation. You are not updated on who is conducting the investigation or how far they are during the investigation. But whata ? ?s even more concerning, there are other flats in the building that were let and werena ? ?t in a decent state of repair, I learnt this through conversations from the other tenants. The tenants also stated that they were given incorrect information from the agents prior to moving in. Upon, moving in, when they realised that they were given false hope and tried to hold the agent accountable, they (the tenants) were ignored. These flats are mainly occupied by BAME individuals or Visa holders. Now let that sink in.
